🌿 A natural paradise only for those who really seek it out
The Cala del Enmedio is, without exaggeration, one of the most beautiful beaches in Andalusia. It has no bar, no sunbeds, no showers. What it does have is fine golden sand, white cliffs sculpted by the wind and a turquoise blue sea that looks like it has been painted on.
You don’t get here by chance. You have to walk or arrive by sea. But believe me: once you’re there, you’ll be lost for words.
📍 Where is Cala del Enmedio?
It is located between Agua Amarga and Cala del Plomo, within the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park. It is an unspoilt cove, with no direct access by car.
It can be reached:
- On foot (from Agua Amarga or from Cala del Plomo)
- By sea (by kayak, paddleboard or boat)
🥾 How to get there on foot (two options)
🚶 Option 1: From Agua Amarga (40-45 minutes)
- Park in Agua Amarga, near Calle de los Depósitos.
- Follow the white and blue marked path (very important!).
- The path has ups and downs, it is panoramic but more demanding.
💡 Don’t follow Google Maps blindly. If you see a blue or white X, turn back.
🚶 Option 2: From Cala del Plomo (20-25 minutes)
- Take the dirt track to Cala del Plomo (about 7 km).
- In the car park, look for the stone marked in blue and white.
- The trail is shorter and easier, ideal for families.
🧭 Nicolás’ tip: this is the comfortable option if you don’t want to work up too much of a sweat.
🚤 Option 3: Arrive by sea (kayak, paddleboard, boat)
If you like to paddle or have the option of renting a kayak:
- From Agua Amarga by kayak: about 30 minutes.
- You can also arrive by boat from Carboneras or Las Negras.
💦 Tip: go up the trail and return by kayak with a guide. Great plan!
🏖️ What’s in Cala del Enmedio?
- Ultra fine golden sand, no stones
- White cliffs like from another planet
- Crystal-clear water, no waves, gently sloping entry, you can stand for dozens of metres.
- Zero buildings, no services, no artificial noise
- Nature and silence
🎒 So come prepared: no shade, no bar, no mobile network.
🐠 What can you do there?
1. Snorkel
The water is clear and calm, perfect for seeing fish, sea urchins and rock formations. You don’t need to swim far.
🧴 Bring a mask, snorkel and water shoes (some areas have rocks and sea urchins).
Postcard photos
It is one of the most photogenic coves in Cabo de Gata. The contrasts between the white rock, turquoise water and blue sky are…breathtaking.
📸 Perfect light: early morning or sunset.
3. Relax without further ado
Time stands still here. There’s no mobile phone coverage, no bars. Just you, the sea and the sun.
Take a book, a towel, and disconnect from everything.
