Literally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An isolated beach, inhabited by a <strong>hippie community<\/strong>, which can only be reached <strong>on foot or by private boat<\/strong>. The journey takes between <strong>45 minutes and 1 hour<\/strong>, depending on your pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udfe2 Level: moderate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udfe1 Footwear: no flip-flops, please. Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd35 Reward: <strong>spectacular views<\/strong> from start to finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Option 2: By boat (limited)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Officially, <strong>tourist launches have been banned<\/strong> for some years now. Unofficially, there are sometimes people who offer trips <strong>in private boats<\/strong> from Las Negras. Ask there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfd6\ufe0f A one-of-a-kind beach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cala San Pedro is a cove <strong>250 metres long with white sand<\/strong>, surrounded by white cliffs and lapped by <strong>turquoise, crystalline<\/strong> waters. There is a <strong>fresh water fountain<\/strong>, you\u2019ll find the ruins of a 15th-century military fortification\u2026 and a hippie community that lives here <strong>all year round<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, it\u2019s real. And it\u2019s less than an hour\u2019s walk once you park your car<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddd8\u200d\u2640\ufe0f Special atmosphere: freedom, naturism and alternative living<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This cove is one of the last spaces of <strong>alternative living<\/strong> in Spain. A hippie community has lived here for more than 40 years, <strong>outside the system<\/strong>. They built their houses with stone, reeds, wood&#8230; they have vegetable gardens, a natural spring and even solar panels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In summer, some visitors stay for a few days or weeks, looking for total disconnection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a <strong>free beach<\/strong>: naturists and traditional bathers live side by side. All with <strong>mutual respect<\/strong>, without written rules but with common sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 Tip: <strong>don&#8217;t take photos without asking permission<\/strong>, out of respect for those who live there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf1e What to do in Cala San Pedro?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Swim in turquoise water<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The water is usually clear, calm and shallow. Ideal for a good relaxing swim or for the kids to play in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Snorkel (without too many expectations)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s not the place with the most marine life in Cabo de Gata, but you can see something near the rocks. Bring a mask and snorkel and <strong>enjoy what you can see<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Visit the ruined castle<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>San Pedro Castle<\/strong> was built at the end of the 15th century to defend the coast from pirates. Today only ruins remain, but the views from there <strong>are worth it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. <strong>Disconnect and observe<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan here is simple: <strong>do nothing<\/strong>. Lie down, breathe, observe. No coverage, no notifications. <strong>A luxury nowadays.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udd7e Technical details of the route from Las Negras<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\ud83d\udccd Starting point: Las Negras car park<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\ud83d\udee4\ufe0f <strong>Distance:<\/strong> 4\u20135 km (one way), about 45 minutes walking. The return is easier \u2013 it\u2019s all downhill.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2600\ufe0f Shade: none. Avoid walking between 12pm and 5pm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2744\ufe0f <strong>Winter<\/strong>: ideal for hiking and total tranquillity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udded And after the cove?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On the way back, stop in Las Negras for a drink. Just you, the sea, and pure freedom.
