Yes, <strong>true silence<\/strong>, with the sound of the sea and the wind caressing the rocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is <strong>one of my favourite spots in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park<\/strong>, a few kilometres from Agua Amarga. Little known, with no services and a bit difficult to get to&#8230; but that is precisely what makes it so special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-columns stk-block-columns stk-block class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udccd Where is Cala del Plomo?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cala del Plomo is located between <strong>Agua Amarga and Las Negras<\/strong>, in a completely unspoilt area of the <strong>Cabo de Gata-N\u00edjar Natural Park<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd0e <strong>Google Maps tip<\/strong>: Access to <strong>Cala del Plomo<\/strong> is via a 7 km track, clearly marked on GPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-map stk-block-map stk-block stk-6e24a24\" data-block-id=\"6e24a24\"><style>.stk-6e24a24 {border-top-left-radius:10px class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\ude97 Access and route: not for the impatient<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll be clear: access is not exactly convenient. From the main road <strong>AL-5106<\/strong>, you have to take a <strong>dirt track for 6 to 7 km<\/strong>, which is somewhat bumpy. It can be done in a normal car, but you have to drive <strong>slowly<\/strong>, dodging stones, and be patient if you come across another car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 <strong>Advice from Nicol\u00e1s<\/strong>: leave early in the morning to avoid crowds and find a place to park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udd7f\ufe0f Parking: small and tricky<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The car park is <strong>very small<\/strong>, unpaved, and is shared with the neighbouring cove, <strong>Cala de Enmedio<\/strong>. In summer it can fill up quickly, especially with camper vans or motorhomes that come to spend the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd59 <strong>Arrive before 10:00 a.m.<\/strong> in high season. Out of season, it is much quieter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfd6\ufe0f A wild, unadorned beach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cala del Plomo offers <strong>260 metres of pure nature<\/strong>: no beach bars, no showers, no lifeguards. Just <strong>crystal clear<\/strong> water, stones, fine sand by the shore, and a landscape that looks like something out of an adventure film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The beach is framed by eroded cliffs with impressive rock formations. On the left, there are small caves to explore; on the right, the promontory of <strong>Punta del Plomo<\/strong>, where there used to be a watchtower to detect Berber pirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udc20 What to do in Cala del Plomo?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Quiet snorkelling<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The water is <strong>crystal clear<\/strong> and the sea bed is full of life. You don&#8217;t have to be a professional: even from the shore you can see <strong>fish, sea urchins and seaweed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83e\ude74 <strong>Bring water shoes<\/strong>: there are a lot of stones when you enter the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Explore and walk<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A coastal path starts at Cala del Plomo and takes you to <strong>Cala de Enmedio<\/strong>. A <strong>30-minute<\/strong> walk with spectacular views. Sometimes you&#8217;ll come across horse riders, because yes, some people come here on horseback!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf04 Take water and sunscreen with you. There is no shade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Rest and unwind<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even in summer, the cove is usually <strong>very quiet<\/strong>. You can lie on the sand, read a good book or simply gaze at the sea. The closer to the shore, the softer the sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. <strong>Photography and contemplation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With the light, the rocks and the sea, this place is a paradise for photographers and nature lovers. Warm water, few people, total peace.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\ud83d\udd25 <strong>July-August<\/strong>: hotter, more cars, more waiting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2744\ufe0f <strong>Winter<\/strong>: perfect for a walk or picnic alone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udc3e Dogs, naturism and atmosphere<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Officially, dogs <strong>are not allowed<\/strong>, but in practice some visitors do bring them, on a lead and not to cause a nuisance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a <strong>mixed<\/strong> cove: people in swimsuits and naturists coexist without problem. There is respect and tranquillity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcd6 A bit of local history<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The name comes from the old farmhouse of <strong>El Plomo<\/strong>, which can still be seen nearby. In the 16th century, at <strong>Punta del Plomo<\/strong>, there was a watchtower to defend the coast from pirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Access to the cove follows the <strong>Rambla del Plomo<\/strong>, a small oasis with <strong>palm trees, olive trees and ancient terraces<\/strong>. It is not your typical comfortable beach with lots of services. It is a place where <strong>you can reconnect with the essentials<\/strong>, where time slows down and the environment invites you to take a deep breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re in the Carboneras or Agua Amarga area, I encourage you to discover it.
