But if what moves you is <strong>pure nature, tranquillity and unfiltered beauty<\/strong>, then <strong>Playa de los Genoveses<\/strong> is <strong>the place<\/strong> for you. And I don&#8217;t say that lightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located in the heart of the <strong>Cabo de Gata-N\u00edjar Natural Park<\/strong>, this unspoilt beach is a <strong>hidden gem<\/strong>. A large curve of golden sand, with no hotels or roads, just <strong>the sea, the dunes and you<\/strong>. Every time I come, I feel like I&#8217;ve discovered a piece of the world that mass tourism hasn&#8217;t spoiled yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-columns stk-block-columns stk-block Almer\u00eda. It is accessed via the <strong>AL-3108<\/strong> road, within the <strong>Cabo de Gata Natural Park<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GPS coordinates<\/strong>: 36.7527\u00b0 N, 2.1165\u00b0 W<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply search for \u2018Playa de los Genoveses\u2019 on <strong>Google Maps<\/strong>, and it will take you straight there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\ude97 Access and parking: what you need to know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You have two options for getting there:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>By car<\/strong>: a fairly accessible dirt track takes you to the <strong>official car park<\/strong>. In <strong>high season<\/strong>, access is <strong>regulated<\/strong> and you have to pay around <strong>\u20ac5-6 (cash only)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>On foot<\/strong>: from San Jos\u00e9 you can walk there in about <strong>20-30 minutes<\/strong> along a very beautiful path surrounded by lavender, thyme and typical Cabo de Gata landscapes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 <strong>Nicol\u00e1s&#8217; tip<\/strong>: in July or August, arrive <strong>before 10:00<\/strong> to find a space. Otherwise, park in San Jos\u00e9 and take the walk. I assure you it&#8217;s worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfd6\ufe0f A 100% natural beach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No beach bars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No sun loungers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No noise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And honestly&#8230; <strong>thank goodness!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Playa de los Genoveses is a <strong>1.2 km long<\/strong> bay, with no buildings in sight, golden dunes and native vegetation. An unspoilt paradise with views of the <strong>Morr\u00f3n de los Genoveses<\/strong>, an 85-metre volcanic hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83e\udded From the water you can see the mountains of the park, and behind the beach there are <strong>palm trees, eucalyptus trees and agaves<\/strong> that complete the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udc3e What to do at Playa de los Genoveses?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Relax, but properly<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The beach is <strong>perfect for families<\/strong>: fine sand, shallow sea, no strong waves. Children can play without any problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 Bring a <strong>sun umbrella<\/strong> or <strong>tent<\/strong>, as <strong>natural shade is very scarce<\/strong> except for a small forest at the beginning (which fills up quickly).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Snorkel and swim<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The water is <strong>crystal clear<\/strong>, and there is <strong>marine life in abundance<\/strong>. Bring your diving goggles to see fish among the rocks on the sides of the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd38 Swimming is safe and very pleasant, although there are areas with underwater dunes where the bottom changes suddenly, so be careful with the little ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Spectacular hiking trail<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Hiking enthusiasts have a gem here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccd There is one of the best routes in the park, from <strong>Playa de los Genoveses to Playa de M\u00f3nsul<\/strong> (about 7 km round trip). You walk between cliffs, unspoilt coves and rock formations that look like they&#8217;re from another planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udfac The best thing? It&#8217;s the real-life setting for films like <em>Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u26a0\ufe0f Some areas are slippery or go right down to the sea. Wear <strong>good shoes<\/strong> and check the <strong>tides<\/strong> before you go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. <strong>Photos and total disconnection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the morning, the light is soft and golden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the afternoon, the sky is stained volcanic orange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you like photography or just sitting and looking at the horizon, this place is <strong>pure visual poetry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcf8 History and curiosities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The name \u2018Genoveses\u2019 comes from a <strong>landing of Genoese fleets in 1147<\/strong>, which helped the Castilians to conquer Almeria.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Many films have been shot here: <em>The Wind and the Lion<\/em>, <em>Exodus<\/em>, <em>Indiana Jones<\/em>&#8230;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is possible to find <strong>fossils in the rocks<\/strong> (look, yes, take, no!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf74 Services? No. Charm? Everything!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\uded1 There are no services.
