Activities and sightseeing in Carboneras and nearby
Some tips for a great vacation in the Natural and Protected Park of Cabo de Gata.

Carboneras: 59 km north of Almería.

Carboneras is a small family village which maintained its authentic Andalusian way of life, unlike many touristic places in Andalusia that have suffered particularly from mass tourism. Carboneras lives all year round with restaurants and stores open even in the winter and you can discover the local sweetness of life.

The best restaurants.

Carboneras offers a wide range of dining options that you will discover as you stroll along the paseo marítimo, with its specialties of fish and paella that you can enjoy at Mariano, El Mellizo or at the Sol y Playa, unless you are more into tapas at Alborán or la Frontera. For meat lovers, the queseria is the best choice on the heights of the village.

Superb beaches, wild and preserved.

In Carboneras alone you have 17 km of beaches for all tastes: from the family beach Playa de las Marinicas, in front of the apartment, to the spectacular Playa de los muertos, only 3 km away, or to the more confidential coves, such as the Playa de la Galera at the exit of the village, which then leads to the Playa del Algarrobico or a little further heading to Mojácar, the peaceful and splendid beaches of Sopalmo and Sombrerico.

Excursions.

You can choose to laze in the creeks, surprise the groupers snorkelling, or practice kayaking, jetskiing, diving, horseback riding, hiking in the mountains, discover the caves of Sorbas, the natural park of Cabo de Gata, explore the desert of Tabernas by quad, visit the film studios of the spaghetti westerns, see the filming locations of Game of Throne or Casa de Papel, or discover Almeria, the capital of the province…
